Obituary of Edna V. Muran
The Lord sent his angels to take mom home to be with him for eternity. She was 97.
Born in Amsterdam on November 3, 1913, she was the daughter of Peter and Salomeja "Sally" Yuskevich Svedarckas. Edna married Stephen Muran on June 28, 1936. An accomplished seamstress, she worked in the Amsterdam mills for a time. Edna received numerous awards for her embroidery including 1st place from the National Grange for a tablecloth. An avid gardener her entire life, she lovingly grew beautiful flowers until recently, and shared her home made jellies and jams with family and friends and enjoyed donating her decorated cakes . She also was a talented painter and her artwork graces her own home as well as those of her family members.
She also enjoyed sewing and tatting and fishing in the pond with Steve. In earlier years, she assisted her husband in the operation of the former Muran's Meat Market.
She belonged to the Glenville Grange# 1531, Pomona Grange, Schenectady County Grange and New York State Grange. She was a golden sheave member of the National Grange. Edna was also a member of the West Glenville Volunteer Fire Auxiliary and the Nocturne Home Bureau. She was her son in law Stan's number one fan of his Joey Thomas Big Band. Edna was a parishioner of the former St. Casimir's Roman Catholic Church.
Her husband Stephen Muran predeceased her on July 13, 1981. Her brothers John, Bennie and Anthony Svedarckas have also passed away.
She leaves her loving family; daughters Sally and her husband Robert Bintz, and Christine Muran- Szepatowski and her husband Stanley all of Amsterdam; grandsons, Robert Bintz Jr. and Nicholas Picciocca; and great granddaughter Morgan Picciocca .
Edna's desire is that anyone affected by her leaving not grieve, but celebrate her's and their lives together by giving all the praise, honor and glory to God The Father, His son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.
A service to celebrate her life will take place Wednesday at 12:30 pm at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue. Pastor Raymond Barnett, officiating. Interment is in the family plot in St. Casimir's Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday from 4-7 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the West Glenville Fire Dept. or Community Hospice Of Amsterdam both in care of the funeral home office.
