Obituary of Patricia Roberts Susi
Mrs. Patricia Roberts Susi, 78, of Miami Lakes, FL, passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2011.
Originally from Gardiner, Maine, Patricia moved to South Florida after graduating from Florida Southern College in 1954 and began teaching Physical Education at Hialeah High School. It is at HHS that she met and married her husband of 52 years, Salvino "Sal" V. Susi. She also taught briefly at Palm Springs Middle School before leaving teaching to devote her life to raising her two children. Patricia was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend.
She is survived by her children, Richard Michael and Jennie Lynn Susi-Taylor; son-in-law, Donn Taylor; twin sister, Priscilla R. Gelfo; and many nieces and nephews.
Pat devoted many hours to The Marian Center where she taught swimming and physical education to adults and children living with an intellectual disability. Lending a hand and giving back were just two of her many incredible traits. All who knew her were better for knowing her.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to one of two charities close to Patricia's heart: The Sisters of St. Joseph B. Cottolengo, 15701 NW 37th Avenue, Miami Gardens, FL 33054 or Creative Work Systems 619 Brighton Avenue, Portland, ME 04102.
A Graveside Service of Remembrance will take place on Friday, June 24, 2011 at 1 o'clock at St. Peter's & Paul's Cemetery in Canajoharie, NY. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Staff of Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317.
