Obituary of Evan Francis Burmester

Mr. Evan Francis Burmester, 59, of Chopin Parkway, Amsterdam died peacefully on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 with his sister by his side. A lifelong area resident, Evan was born in Amsterdam on June 10, 1951 he was the son of the late Arthur and Elizabeth Collins Burmester and was raised in Fort Hunter. He attended local schools and was one of the first 19 clients of Liberty Enterprises. He participated in the Special Olympics, was a torchbearer and was one of Amsterdam Goodwill Ambassadors appointed by Mayor Emanuele. He will be remembered as everyone's sweetheart and sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Survivors include his sister, Mrs. Celinda M. Parrish and her husband Bill of Lakeland, FL; his nephews, Brian Parrish and Kevin Parrish, both of Lakeland, FL; one special cousin, Ed and Dorothy Luck and their son John of Vienna, VA; many other cousins and his extended Liberty family of housemates and caregivers. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, February 10, 2010 at 11 o'clock at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam. Relatives and friends are invited and may call one hour prior to the service beginning at 10 o'clock. Interment will take place at a later date in St. Cecilia's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Liberty Foundation.
