Obituary of Antonio Caban
Antonio Caban 79, formerly of the Hi Rise Apartments, passed away Thursday evening at St. Mary?s Hospital. He had been a resident of the Wilkinson RHCF in Amsterdam.
Born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico on March 30, 1931, he was the son of the late Santiago and Butola Seguerre Caban. Educated there, he moved to Amsterdam in 1958 where he has since resided. He worked for many years at the Esquire Novelty Company before he retired in 1996. He loved art, especially drawing and was awarded two trophies for his work at showings in Albany. Tony was a kind and loving man, who loved to play dominoes and do puzzles. He was a parishioner of the former St. Michael The Archangel Roman Catholic Church and more currently St. Mary?s Church.
His beloved wife, the former Selena Ortiz predeceased him in 1983.
He leaves his sons Antonio Caban Jr. of Amsterdam and Miguel Caban of Rochester; two grandchildren, and his dear friend Lillian Solis and her family of Amsterdam. They are most grateful to the wonderful staff at Wilkinson for their kindness and care, to St. Mary?s Hospital and Father John Medwid.
Services are Tuesday at 10:00 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by the Mass Of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. Mary?s Church. Fr. John Medwid, celebrant. Interment is in St. Michael?s Cemetery. It was Antonio?s request that there be no calling hours and memorials may be made in his name to St. Mary?s Church.
