Obituary of Theresa Cleveland
Theresa Cleveland, age 94, formerly of Gloversville passed away on Tuesday February 15, 2011 at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC.
She was born in Watervliet, NY on December 10, 1916 the daughter of the late Rosario and Mary Lanzillo Giuliano.
Educated in Gloversville schools, she was employed by Robinson & Smith Co. for several years.
On January 1, 1935, Theresa married Gordon Cleveland. They shared over 50 years united in marriage until his passing in 1986.
Theresa was a former parishioner of the former Sacred Heart Church in Gloversville and a current parishioner of St. Thomas More Church in Chapel Hill, NC.
Before moving to North Carolina in 1993, Theresa was a member of the Rosary Society at the former Sacred Heart Church, volunteered for the Nathan Littauer Hospital Auxillary and served on the Election Committee for many years. After moving to North Carolina, Theresa volunteered at her church, St. Thomas More and the University of North Carolina Hospitals until she was 90 years old.
She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Gardinier Robert Sr. of Chapel Hill, NC, 3 brothers, Roy Giuliano of Rochester, NY, Frank Clemente of Gloversville, NY and Rev. Michael D. Clemente of Schenectady, NY,
Addition survivors include 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, a great-great grandson and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Theresa was preceded in death by 4 brothers Albert Clemente, Angelo Clemente, Joseph Clemente, Salvatore Clemente and 3 sisters, Theresa Gardiner, Mary Aufiero and Esther Clemons.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday May 23, 2011 at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 149 South Main Street, Gloversville. Interment will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown. The arrangements have been entrusted to the Kobuskie-Konik Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in memory of Theresa to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Ave, Gloversville, NY 12078.
