Obituary of Edward G. Bubniak
Edward George Bubniak, 49, of Amsterdam, entered into eternal life on February 15, 2011 peacefully at his home. Ed was born on January 24th 1962 to Raymond and Shirley Phelps Bubniak of Amsterdam. Ed attended Amsterdam schools and was a graduate of Amsterdam High School Class of 1980. Ed was a former employee of The Adirondack beverage Company in Scotia, NY where he was also a member of the "Teamsters Union" International Brotherhood of local 669. Ed served as an altar boy for the former Church of the St. John the Baptist as well as played on the St. John's Bowling Team. Ed also played baseball for the Irish American Club and played basket ball for his uncle Pete Phelps, on the Phelps Lunch Team. Ed was an avid sports fan and will best be remembered for his love of "The New York Giants"! Ed dedicated an entire room in his home from ceiling to floor with NY Giants memorabilia, he never missed a Sunday game and wore his New York Giants wardrobe with pride. He was truly a huge dedicated fan. Ed also enjoyed camping with his family and friends.
Ed is survived by his lifelong and loving companion Valerie Furman; his parents Raymond and Shirley Bubniak of Amsterdam, sister, Deloris DeeDee Bubniak of Amsterdam, brother, Andrew Ann Bubniak, and niece Ashley Bubniak of Broadalbin. His extended family includes Carol Furman and Mark Pasquariello, Michael and Susan Hidde, nieces, Alexis and Marissa Hidde and nephews, Benjamin Engle and Brandon Danielle Sowle. Thomas Andrus and Linda Sanda Furman and several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. The family extends a heartfelt thank you and sincere gratitude to Community Hospice of Amsterdam.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at 9:15 AM at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, East Main St., Amsterdam, with the Fr. O. Robert DeMartinis officiating. Burial will take place in St. John's Cemetery in Amsterdam. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Friday, February 18, 2011, from 4 until 7PM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue in Amsterdam. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ed's memory may be made to his family in care of Susan Hidde or the funeral home office.
