Obituary of Linda J. Porath

Linda J. Porath 67, of the Roosevelt Apartments, Wall Street, passed away Tuesday afternoon at St. Mary?s Hospital after a long illness. Born in Amsterdam on Feb. 25, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Rolin and Ilene Juedes Covey. She attended Amsterdam Schools and lived in Amsterdam her entire life. Linda was employed as a cook for various local restaurants including the former Carl Company. She was a member and vice president of the Polish National Alliance Lodge 1291 Auxiliary and Council 113. She was also a member of the John J. Wyszomirski Post 701 Ladies Auxiliary and was of the Roman Catholic faith. Linda had a kind heart and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. On Nov. 13, 1960 she was united in marriage to Oscar L. Porath. In addition to her husband, she leaves her daughter Cindy and her husband Donald Vitus of Hagaman; her son, David Porath of Amsterdam; grandchildren; Jessica V and Donald J. Vitus; great grandchildren Dakotah and Kaylani-Rae Vitus; brothers Michael Covey of Broadalbin and Frank Donna Covey of Amsterdam; a sister Rebecca Earl Brown of Gloversville and nieces, nephews and cousins. Linda was predeceased by her son Kevin and daughter Rolinda Porath as well as brothers Clifford and Christopher Covey. A prayer service will take place Saturday at 11:00 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY with Fr. Stanislaus J. Swierzowski officiating. Interment will be at St. Mary?s Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 10 to 11 am at the funeral home. Members of the PNA will gather at 10 am to pay their respects.
