Obituary of Milo H. Brown

Mr. Milo H. Brown, 93, of North Division Street, St. Johnsville, NY died peacefully on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam. Born on October 10, 1917 in Seward, NY he was the son of the late Milo C. and Alice Van DerWerker Brown. Milo was employed in highway construction, and then served five year in the United States Army during WWII. During that time he served as an instructor at the Infantry School in Fort Benning, GA and in Iceland, France, Belgium and Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1945 as a Platoon Sergeant earning the Bronze Star. Following WWII he returned to the area where he was employed in the trucking industry as a driver, shop manager and a terminal manager. He also worked for a time as an auto parts store manager. Milo was a member of the Hamilton Lodge No. 79 F&AM serving as Master and Secretary of the Lodge as well as being appointed, Grand Lodge Representative. He was also a member of Hiram Union Chapter, Royal Arch Masons and served as High Priest, Secretary, and District Deputy Grand High Priest. Milo was also a member of the Little Falls Commandery Knights Templar. He was also an avid golfer and bowler. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Edith Allen Brown; two daughters, Penny Conrad of Palatine Bridge, NY and Shirley Yoran and her husband Mark of Dolgeville, NY; two grandchildren, Tracy Stadel and her husband John of Schuylerville, NY and Staff Sergeant Jesse Boepple and his fiancé Staci Null of Fort Drum; two great granddaughters, Megan and Kelly Stadel; two foster sons, David Clemons of Amsterdam, NY and Charles Dygert of Fort Plain, NY; two brothers, Richard Brown of Texas and Gerald Brown and his wife Betty of Ohio; one sister, Rena Brown of Amsterdam, NY; his two beloved feline companions, Sampson and China; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two twin brothers, Bernard and Maynard Brown; and his grandson, Gregory Conrad. A Graveside Service of Remembrance will take place at a later date in Evergreen Cemetery, Sandflats, Fonda, NY with military honors. Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to the charity of one's choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317.
