Obituary of Carl Dabiere

Mr. Carl Dabiere, 93, of Amsterdam, passed away Monday February 28, 2011 at the River Ridge Living Center LLC in Amsterdam. Born in Amsterdam, NY on September 12, 1917 a son of the late Joseph and Angelina Dabiere. He was a lifelong Amsterdam resident and attended local schools. Mr. Dabiere was employed for many years in the grocery business where he worked for the former Lou's Supermarket and Joe's Market. Carl last was employed as a security officer for the General Electric Co. in Schenectady, NY. He was of the Roman Catholic Faith. He married the former Lena Martuscello who passed away on May 6, 1997. Survivors include two sons, David Dabiere Sharyn and Dennis Dabiere both of Amsterdam. One daughter, Susan Pozniak Joseph of Amsterdam, NY. Two sisters, Stella Meskoskey of Amsterdam and Josephine Smith of Florida. Seven grandchildren, Carla and Christopher Dabiere, Brett Luiza Pozniak, Craig Pozniak, Hailey Pozniak, Tami and Mark Leggiero. Four great-grandchildren, Hannah, Mark, Mackenzie and Madison. He is also survived by a companion Shirley Buchanan and nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Dabiere was predeceased by a daughter, Patricia Leggiero on June 30, 2005. He is also predeceased by brothers, Michael, Armand and Raymond and sisters Christine and Carmella. Funeral services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ft. Johnson, NY. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Montgomery County S.P.C.A. or to a charity of one's choice c/o the funeral home office.
