Obituary of Tessie D. Zarecki

Mrs. Tessie D. Zarecki, 95, of Amsterdam, passed away peacefully Thursday March 3, 2011 at the E. L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility in Amsterdam. Born in Brooklyn, NY on August 18, 1915 a daughter of the late Wasyl and Anna Dohan Danylak. She was a lifelong resident of Amsterdam and attended local schools. Mrs. Zarecki was a self-employed housekeeper for many years in the Amsterdam area retiring in 1985. Mrs. Zarecki was a former member of the St. Casimir's Seniors and was a communicant of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam. She married Thomas E. Zarecki Sr. on January 16, 1936. He passed away in June of 1994. Survivors include one son, Thomas E. Zarecki Jr. and his wife Mary of Schenectady, NY. Daughter-in-law, Sandy Zarecki of Amsterdam, NY. Six grandchildren, Michele Ann Zarecki of Amsterdam, Robert Christine Zarecki of Schenectady, NY, Paul Lisa Zarecki of Amsterdam, Karen Winders of Baldwinsville, NY, Joanne Joseph Renaud of Broadalbin, NY, and Michael Meghan Zarecki of Amsterdam. Thirteen great-grandchildren. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She was predeceased by her son, William G. Zarecki on February 13, 2004. Tessie's Family at this time would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the 2nd Floor Staff at the E.L. Wilkinson Facility and to Community Hospice of Amsterdam for their wonderful care. Funeral services will be held on Monday March 7, 2011 at 10:00A.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00A.M. at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, East Main St. Amsterdam with Father John Medwid as celebrant. Interment will be at a later date in St. Basil's Cemetery, Broadalbin, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday March 6, 2011 from 3:00 to 5:00P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Church Development Fund, 156 East Main St., Amsterdam, NY 12010 or to the Community Hospice of Amsterdam, 243 Manny Corners Rd., Amsterdam, NY 12010.
