Obituary of Carrie M. Compani
Carrie M. Compani of Fonda, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam. She was born at her family home in Fonda, July 25, 1918 the daughter of the late John and Florence Luciano Zannitto.
Carrie was a life time resident of the area and attended local schools. She was employed at the former White Mop Wringer Co. in Fultonville. Carrie was united in marriage to the late Antonio "Tony" Compani on September 25, 1938, their union lasted a beautiful 62 years. He passed away on January 11, 2001. Carrie enjoyed gardening, both flowers and vegetables. Most of all she was very caring and dedicated to her family. Her family will cherish and remember her legacy in their hearts eternally.
Her loving family includes her daughter, Carolyn Stephen E. Carpenter of Johnstown; her grand children, Christine John Carpenter, Carla Robert Workman, Cara Compani and Daniel Compani; great grandchildren Madison and Cole Workman. She is also survived by sisters, Delores Wohlgemuth, and Mary Grasso. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She was predeceased by her son, John Compani, two brothers and six sisters.
A service of remembrance, in celebration of her beautiful life will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at 11 AM at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville, NY 12072. Relatives and friends are invited gather one hour prior to the service beginning at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be made to Montgomery County SPCA, St. Cecilia's Christian Community Service, or to the Fonda Volunteer Fire Department, in care of the funeral home office.
