Obituary of Thelma J. Lampkin
Mrs. Thelma J. Lampkin, 78, formerly of Ft. Hunter Road, Town of Florida died peacefully on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at the River Ridge Living Center. Born in Sloansville, NY on May 26, 1932 she was the daughter of the late Percy and Anna Sellick Tallmadge, Sr.
A lifelong area resident, Thelma attended Fonda- Fultonville schools and was a homemaker all of her life. On August 18, 1950 she was united in marriage to Charles D. Lampkin. That union lasted 56 years until his passing on September 3, 2006. She was also predeceased by a son in law, David Ploch; and a brother in law, Harry Newkirk.
Survivors include her children; Wayne Lampkin of Newington, CT, Elaine Ploch of Cromwell, CT and Lorraine Earle and her husband Loren of Lockport, NY; four grandchildren, Michael and Karen Ploch and Jacob and Kelsie Earle; her nephew, James Knack of Ghent, NY; two brothers, Percy Tallmadge, Jr. and his wife Harriett of Glen, Virgil Tallmadge and his wife Sharon of Auriesville; three sisters, Evelyn Grandy and her husband Charles of Canajoharie, Margaret Newkirk of Tribes Hill and Janet Sievert and her husband William of Amsterdam; and several other nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 14, 2011 at 11 o'clock at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call one hour prior to the service beginning at 10 o'clock. Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the charity of one's choice.
