I was shocked and saddened to read about Joe today. He was one of the funniest guys that I've ever met. Camp won't be the same without Joe and we'll miss him. We will always remember him pulling up on the golf cart with a big smile on his face! Thank you "Joe E" and "Shirls" for the good times and for helping me out with my career. God Bless you all!

As a VA psychologist for 10 years, then a private practice therapist working with vets and their families for the last 14 years, my memories of Joe Hill remind me of the folk song "Joe Hill"....the man who stood up for all working people, the way Joe stood up for so many vets for both benefits and well-deserved care. He would come to my office, we'd sit in the kitchen to review cases, and he'd tell stories and jokes in between. He "tore up the floor" at Robin Temple's retirement dinner, having all of us laugh till we cried.
Despite not knowing Joe or his family on a more personal level, my husband, Vince Treanor another combat vetand I send our respectful condolences to each of you for the loss of a truly caring and fun man who never forgot all the others who served well our country.

I am honored to say Joe Hill and I were best of friends. We worked together in Veterans advocacy. Nobody worked harder to get veterans and their dependents the benefits they deserved. Joe played as hard as he worked. His sense of humor will stay with me always. I am a much richer person to have known Joe Hill. He will be in my mind and my heart always. Blessings to Shirley, Jennifer and Jeremy at this very difficult time.

So sorry to hear of your loss. Many memories: the sea gulls who babtized him, to the shopping sprees and the toothbrush incident when he was checking the bristles which made him jump, to the family get togethers. Laughter and Good times for many many years. He will be missed.
