Obituary of Veronica A. Gizelba
Veronica A. Gizelba, 85, of Midline Road, passed away peacefully Saturday morning at the River Ridge Living Center in Amsterdam after being a patient since February of this year.
Born June 24, 1925 in Amsterdam, New York, she was the daughter of the late August and Barbara Karutis Liberis. Veronica was a life long resident of Amsterdam and she was a graduate of the Wilbur H. Lynch High School and later she graduated from the Mildred Elley School of Business.
Veronica was employed as an office clerk for Amsterdam printing & Litho in Amsterdam for many years.
She was a parishioner of the former St. Casimir's Roman Catholic Church and a former member of the A.L.C. Ladies Auxiliary.
Veronica loved to read, she was a N.Y. Knick's Basketball Fan
and enjoyed going with her daughter to Saratoga Ballet, polo matches and Saratoga horseracing.
On April 8, 1951 she married Leonard Gizielba who passed away November 20, 2009. She was also predeceased by her brother Anthony Liberis.
Survivor's include her loving family, a daughter, Lenore Tokarowski of Fultonville; a brother, Edmund Liberis of Amsterdam; a granddaughter, Victoria Tokarowski of Fultonville; two nieces, Betty Minnitti and Susan Hill; a nephew, William Liberis; and cousins also survive.
A prayer service will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at 10:00 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 am at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, East Main street, Amsterdam with the Rev. John Medwid as celebrant. Burial will take place in St. Casimir's Cemetery. A calling hour will be held on Tuesday morning from 9 to 10 am at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Veronica's memory to Community Hospice of Amsterdam, 246 Manny's Corners Road, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
