Obituary of Dorothy Gay

Dorothy Gay, 83, of Amsterdam passed away on Monday, March 14, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital. She was born February 10, 1928 in Queens, NY, the daughter of the late John and Barbara Hegel Holleritter. Dorothy grew up in Queens and graduated from a local high school. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She liked to knit and crochet. She was a kind woman, true to her Roman Catholic Faith and Christ. Her loving family includes sons, Ed Bishop of Amsterdam and James Diane Bishop of Bradenton, FL.; daughter Deborah Pete Watson of NY; Her loving grandchildren, Justin Bishop, Samantha Bishop, Melissa Guerra, James Ernest Bishop and James Edward Bishop; a great grand child, Devin Bishop. She is also survived by one sister, Anne Schweitzer. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. In addition to her parents and her late husband, she is predeceased by two brothers, three sisters. Funeral services for Dorothy will be at 2 PM on March 17, 2011 at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010. Relatives and friends are invited to visit one hour prior to the service at the funeral home beginning at 1 PM. Burial will take place at St. Casimir's cemetery following the service.
