Obituary of Guadalupe DeJesus

Guadalupe DeJesus, 84, of Jay Street, passed away Tuesday evening peacefully at her home with her loving family at her bedside. She was born March 5, 1927 in Guayama, Puerto Rico and was the daughter of Nicholas and Marcela Rodriguez DeJesus. Guadalupe moved to Amsterdam in 1982 after living in New Jersey for a number of years and she was employed at various factories in New Jersey, New York City and later in Amsterdam, New York. She was a parishioner of the former St. Michael of the Archangel Roman Catholic Church. She enjoyed cooking, watching soap operas and loved her plants. She is survived by two sons, Sergio Torres of Clearwater Beach, FL and Santiago Velazquez of New York; two daughters, Carmen Rodriguez and Yvonne Torres both of Amsterdam; eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. There will be a private memorial service at the convenience of the family. Cremation will take place at Vale Crematory in Schenectady. There will be no calling hours. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY.
