Obituary of Charles Thompson
Charles H. "Chuckie" Thompson Jr., age 65, of Gloversville, NY passed away on Saturday March 26, 2011 at Park Hill Adult Home in Amsterdam, NY.
He was born in Williamsburg, VA on March 1, 1946, the son of the late Charles and Elnora Dolores Thompson.
Chuckie resided in Gloversville for a majority of his life. He was a graduate of Gloversville High School and went on to attend Julliard, School of the Arts in New York City.
Chuckie worked at Tryon Residential School for Boys and various leather tanneries in Gloversville. He later joined the family owned and operated business, Thompson's Professional Cleaning Service.
He is survived by his two sons, Charles Thompson and Charles H. Thompson III, three daughters, April, Tawana, Shakona, a brother Allen Wayne Thompson, two sisters, Pamela Dunbar, Kimberly Jefferson as well as 7 grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and the mother to his two youngest children, Michelle Mikula.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his wife Johnnie, sister Donna L. Thompson and nephew Robert "Bones" Wilson.
Friends and relatives are invited and may call from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Friday April 1, 2011 at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. A funeral service will be conducted immediately following the conclusion of calling hours at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Eloise Frazier officiating. Interment will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Charles to the American Heart Association, 440 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205.
