Obituary of Dimas Rodriguez

Mr.Dimas Rodriguez, 79, of South Main St. Herkimer, NY, formerly a resident of Amsterdam, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at Little Falls Hospital, Little Falls, N.Y., following injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. Born in Yauco, Puerto Rico on August 30, 1931 a son of Juan and Juanita Rodriguez Carrabello. He was a resident of Puerto Rico and attended school there until coming to Amsterdam, NY in 1953. Mr. Rodriguez worked for a time at the former Amsterdam Brush Company and later for the General Electric Co. in Schenectady retiring in 1989. He married Mary Belmonte in 1980. In addition to his loving wife survivors include, one dear son, Dimas Rodriguez of Amsterdam, NY. Three cherished grandchildren, Kristian, Tina and Nathan Rodriguez. Three great-grandchildren, Kristian, Jackson and Logan. Brother and Sister-in-law, Tony Belmonte and his wife Carolyn of Herkimer, NY. Dimas is also survived by several brothers and sister and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother Raymond Rodriguez. Mr. Rodriguez was a communicant of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam. He was also a member of the Spanish American Club and Bowling Leagues in Amsterdam. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday April 5, 2011 at 9:00A.M. at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, East Main St., Amsterdam with Father John Medwid as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ft. Johnson, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday April 4, 2011 from 4:00 to 7:00P.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association c/o the funeral home office.
