Obituary of Robert W. Bonfey

Robert W. Bonfey Sr., age 75, of Gloversville passed away on Saturday April 2, 2011 at his home. He was born in Gloversville, NY the son of the late Nelson and Pauline Noble Bonfey. Robert proudly served his country by enlisting in the United States Army from 1955 through 1957. He was employed at Fairbanks Feed in Gloversville as a truck driver for 25 years as well as Verklier Enterprizes in Mayfield for many years. Robert enjoyed fishing, deer hunting and scratch off lottery tickets. He spent lots of time at the Stewarts shop and it came to be like a second home to him. Most of all Robert enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be missed by all who knew him. Robert is survived by three sons: Robert W. Bonfey Jr. of Gloversville, Dale L. Bonfey of Amsterdam, Chad R. DeLong of Lakeland, FL, two daughters: Jennie Ann Morgan of Mayfield, Elizabeth LaMont of Scottsville, KY, 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Additional Survivors include: two brothers: Charles Bonfey, Donald Bonfey, a sister: Nancy Pauline Morey, friend and companion: Jane Bonfey as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Bonfey. Family and friends are invited and may call from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Thursday April 7, 2011 at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Friday April 8, 2011 at the funeral home with the Rev. Christopher Hamm officiating. Interment will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
