Obituary of Maritza Santiago

Maritza Santiago, age 51, of Broadalbin passed away on Sunday April 10, 2011 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady. She was born in Corozal, Puerto Rico on June 22, 1959 the daughter of Ermelinda Lopez and the late Mali U. Rivera. Maritza was a parishioner at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Broadalbin. She born in Puerto Rico and moved to New York in her teenage years. She enjoyed cooking and playing bingo. Maritza also enjoyed spending time in the adult daycare program at the Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility in Amsterdam. She will be missed by all who knew her. Maritza is survived by her two sons: Rafael Alicea Shayra of Amsterdam, Olrlando Alicea Kristi of Broadalbin, her mother Ermelinda Lopez, 5 brothers: Maly, Orlando, Reinaldo, Rodolfo, Uorte and two sisters: Nydia and Merilyn. Additional survivors include: 10 grandchildren as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Family and friends are invited and may call from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday April 13, 2011 at the Jeffords & Stewart Funeral Home, 85 West Main Street, Broadalbin. Cremation will follow at Parkview Crematorium, Schenectady.
