Obituary of David W. Wright

David W. Wright, 67, of Gloversville, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2011 surrounded by his family. He was born June 27, 1943 in Colonie, the son of the late Harold and Katherine Golden Wright. David was a 1962 graduate of Shaker High School, and from 1962 to 1968, David served his country proudly in the United States Army where he attained the rank of Sergeant. He attended Hudson Valley Community College and earned an A.A.S in Electrical Construction and Maintenance, and he was employed by General Electric for over thirty seven years until his retirement. On November 22, 1975, Dave married his best friend and partner in life, Phyllis Stoutner. They enjoyed over thirty five years together. All who knew him will miss his easy going, caring demeanor who was always quick to make you smile. He most enjoyed being with his family and especially his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Survivors include his beloved wife, Phyllis Wright, of Gloversville; daughters Diana Wright Dan O'Connor of Albany, Cynthia Cromer Ron of Gloversville and Tamie Swan Dean of Canton; a son, Don Wright Nicole of Schenectady; grandchildren: Olivia, Kathryn, Nicholas, Kyle, Noah and Aaron; brothers Harold Wright Hope and Edward Wright Joyce; a sister, Nancy Nadeau Jerry and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Family and friends are invited and may call Friday, April 15 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville for a memorial visitation. A memorial service will be held at St. James Lutheran Church, 521 North Main Street, Gloversville at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 16 with Pastor L. David Almleaf officiating. Interment will be at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville with military honors. Donations may be made in David's memory to a charity of one's choosing.
