Obituary of Darla Wilsey
Mrs. Darla Wilsey, age 71, died peacefully at her home in Gloversville on Tuesday morning, April 12, 2011, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born July 24, 1939 in Gloversville to Royal and Margaret Roberts Nickloy, who predeceased her.
An active member of the Foothills United Methodist Church, Darla served on the Board of the Getman Home and in the Nathan Littauer Hospital Auxiliary. She worked in the health office at Park Terrace School for 17 years.
Darla loved sharing summertime with family and friends at her camp on the Great Sacandaga. When not at the camp, she loved to travel the world, sightseeing and visiting her many children and grandchildren. She also loved crafts, sewing, cooking and bridge, as well as her dogs Mandy, Tasha and Lily.
Her message to us all was "As long as I have the love of my family and friends, I'll live in the hearts of you all."
Darla is survived by: her husband, Donald H. Wilsey, M.D; four children, Tom Nigro Kathy, Michael Nigro, Tammy Purdy Rich and Tara Goliber Paul; three stepchildren, Beth Dobbie, Chris Wilsey Robyn and Linda String Steven; 17 grandchildren, Eric, Marc, Todd, Kristin, Kaylynn, Kendall, Nicholas, Melissa, Scott, Lauren, Tyler, Broden, Katie, Matthew, Emily, Steven and Brett. Also surviving are a sister, Karen Ulrich Bill; two brothers, Nick Nickloy Ann and Dan Nickloy Diane; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, April 14 at Foothills United Methodist Church, 17 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Cynthia J. VanAllen officiating. Interment will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville or James A. Brennan Memorial Humane Society, 437 Nine Mile Tree Road, Gloversville or Getman Memorial Home, 15 East State St; Gloversville, NY 12078.
