Obituary of Schuyler E. Tallman
Schuyler E. Tallman, 83, of Romeyn Avenue, passed away Wednesday evening at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility.
Born in Amsterdam on April 17, 1927, he was the son of the late Edwin S. and Fanny Markes Tallman. A lifelong resident, he was a 1944 graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School. He then enlisted in the US Navy and was a stateside veteran during World War II. He later joined the U.S. Army National Guard and served from 1974 to 1980 with the rank of staff sergeant. Schuyler worked as a word processor for the Farm Family Insurance Agency before he retired in 1992, and in its infancy, was a driver for GAVAC in 1966.
He was a member of the former Trinity Reformed Church. He was also a member and chaplain for many years for the John J. Wyszomirski Post 701 and was known for his great knowledge of military history and was an avid collector of war memorabilia. Schuyler's family is most grateful to the wonderful staff at the Wilkinson Center for their care and concern shown this past year and a half.
He leaves his beloved wife of sixty three years, Marilyn A. Terwilleger Tallman; his daughters; Linda and her husband Denis O'Brien of Ballston Spa, Gail Tallman and her husband Seth Weissman of Greenfield Center, and Karen and her husband Chad Ahr of Amsterdam; grandchildren; Adam Stanton of Alpharetta, Ga., Katya and Ariel Ahr, step grandchildren; Sarah David Misserian of Ca., Jennifer O'Brien of New Hampshire, Sandra Michael Spoerner of New Mexico, Julie and Alex Barbeau-Weissman of Quebec City, Canada, Sarah Tim Swaisgood of Ballston Spa, Chad Angie Ahr of Colonie and Kelly Andre Lescault of Corinth; seven step great grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews. His sister, Roberta Jennings predeceased him.
A service will take place at the convenience of the family at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave. conducted by members of Post 701. There are no prior calling hours. Interment will take place at the Gerald B.H. Solomon National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to the Montgomery Co. SPCA or the Shriner's Childrens Hospital of Springfield both in care of the funeral home office.
