Obituary of Eleanor Furiani Quattrocchi

Eleanor Furiani Quattrocchi, 94, formerly of Arnold Avenue, passed away early Sunday morning at the Belmont Manor in Belmont, Mass. Born in Amsterdam on January 8, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Ignazio and Julia Pompi Furiani. A 1933 graduate of Amsterdam High School, Eleanor lived here her entire life until moving to Belmont to be near family. She was employed over twenty years as an employment officer for the New York State Employment Office before she retired in 1981. She and her husband were active in the community where she was a member of St. Mary's Seniors and St. Michael's Convent Auxiliary. Eleanor was also active with the Arnold Avenue School PTA and many civic organizations including the American Red Cross and Cancer Societies. She was a parishioner of Our Lady Of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church. On June 20, 1937 she was united in marriage to Emil Quattrocchi. In addition to her beloved husband of nearly seventy four years, she leaves her daughter Joan and her husband John Caruso of Belmont, Mass., granddaughter Kristin A. Caruso and her husband Swain Valasek of Tampa, Fla., and a great grandson Skyler Valasek; nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Eleanor was predeceased by her dear son Donald Quattrocchi and her brother Fiore L. Furiani. Services will be at the convenience of the family. A mass will be offered at a later date to be announced at Our Lady Of Mount Carmel. A mass was held April 17th at the Belmont Manor where her husband Emil resides. Interment is in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to Mount Carmel Memorial Fund, in care of the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam.
