Obituary of Rena L. Dersch
Rena L. Dersch, 80, of Broadalbin, died unexpectedly at St. Mary's Hospital after a fall at home Thursday, April 21, 2011.
She was born July 17, 1930 in Broadalbin, the daughter of the late James H. and C. Beatrice Steele Frederick.
Rena was a graduate of Broadalbin High School, Class of 1947.
Rena married Henry Dersch on November 15, 1970. They shared over fifteen years together until his passing in 1985.
She was employed at several jobs, including a journeyman pressman for Amsterdam Print, a realtor for Action Realty; she worked for the Town of Broadalbin for seventeen years and retired from Graphic Arts International.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Broadalbin. She was also a member of the Broadalbin-Kenyetto Historical Society.
Rena enjoyed gardening and auction and antique shows. Most especially, she loved spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Rena will be very sadly missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include a son, James A. Miller, Jr. Susan Semione of Broadalbin; six daughters: Carol M. Phillips of Broadalbin, Karen A. Boyd of West Yarmouth, MA, Barbara M. Tautznik Peter of Gloversville, Joan M. Simeone Dominick of Amsterdam, Susan L. Miller Ronald Davis of Amsterdam and Gail M. Carusone John of Amsterdam; fourteen grandchildren; twenty seven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; a brother, Arnold H. Frederick of Amsterdam, a stepbrother, William Canfield Sherry of Broadalbin and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Rena was predeceased by the father of her children, James A. Miller, Sr. and two grandsons: Christopher Schell and Bryan Boyd.
Family and friends are invited and may call Monday, April 25 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Jeffords & Stewart Funeral Home, 85 West Main Street, Broadalbin, 12025. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 26 at 9 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Broadalbin, 54 West Main Street with Pastor Linda Martin officiating. Interment will be at Broadalbin Mayfield Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rena's memory to the First Presbyterian Church of Broadalbin.
