Obituary of Mary B. Knapp
Mary B. Knapp, 88, formerly of Hammondtown Road, went peacefully with her Lord Friday afternoon in the company of her loving family. Her death followed a long illness.
Born in Broadalbin NY on November 4, 1922, she was the last surviving child of the late Robert and Anna Paton Beatty. She attended Broadalbin and Perth Schools and was a 1940 graduate of Perth High School. A home maker, she loved baking and sewing, reading, especially poetry and just spending time with her family. Mary was a member of the Hagaman United Methodist Church and it?s Women?s Group. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her dear son Brian Knapp on October 2, 2004 and siblings; Rev. Joseph Beatty, Henry, Robert and Stewart Beatty, Matilda Leavenworth, Elizabeth Lansburg, Annie Beyer and Patricia Ross.
On Feb. 16, 1946 she was united in marriage to Warren S. Knapp.
In addition to her beloved husband of sixty five years, she leaves her daughter Laurie and her husband Tom Murey of Broadalbin; her grandson Edwin Peter Murey and nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service to celebrate her life will take place Tuesday at 11:00 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue. The Rev. Bill Delia officiating. Interment will follow in the Hagaman Mills Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday from 5-7 pm at the funeral home. Contributions may be made in her name to the Alzheimer?s Disease Association , Mountain Valley Hospice or a charity of choice all in care of the funeral home office.
