Obituary of Ellen Stack

Ellen Stack, 89, of Gloversville, passed away peacefully at her home Tuesday, April 26, 2011. She was born December 18, 1921, in Gloversville, the daughter of the late Charles and Hazel Putman Stoddard. She was a 1941 graduate of Gloversville High School. On August 2, 1945, Ellen was united in marriage to Theodore Stack. They shared over fifty eight years together until his passing in 2003. Ellen was employed at General Electric in Schenectady where she worked in the laboratory. She was also employed at St. Thomas Inc. She was a past member of the Nathan Littauer Hospital Auxiliary and the Fulton County YMCA. Ellen will be sadly missed. Survivors include two nephews: Bruce Gardner Mary Jane of Gloversville and Samuel Stack of Latham; two great nieces: Leslie Evans Tom of East Amherst, NY and Melinda Gardner of Gloversville; a great great nephew, Nolan and three great great nieces: Gillian, Ashley and Corinne. In addition to her beloved husband, Theodore, Ellen was predeceased by two sisters: Margaret Gardner and Hilda Cole. There will be no calling hours or service. Cremation will take place at ParkView Crematorium in Schenectady. Interment will be held at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville, NY 12078. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ellen's memory to the Fulton County YMCA, 213 Harrison Street, Johnstown, NY 12095 or to the Gloversville Free Library, 58 East Fulton Street, Gloversville, NY 12078.
