Obituary of Howard F. Bramer
Mr. Howard F. Bramer, 95 years old, formerly of Amsterdam, died Friday, April 29, 2011, at Evergreen Commons in East Greenbush. He was born December 10, 1915, in Amsterdam, a son of Charles and Lena Jasper Bramer, Jr., and was educated in Amsterdam schools.
Mr. Bramer was employed as a machinist in the Turbine Department at General Electric Co. in Schenectady until his retirement. He was a guest member of John J. Wyszomirski Post 701 American Legion. Mr. Bramer was a member of the Reid Hill Fish & Game Club. He loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed camping in Wells, NY and Hiking. He was a deer hunter until the age of 84. Mr. Bramer was a "Big" Yankees' fan and loved all sports.
He married the former Loretta Hughes on October 19, 1940. She died July 10, 1986. Mr. Bramer is survived by his daughter Carol A. Wilkinson of E. Greenbush, NY, six grandchildren: Michael P. "Dana" Wilkinson, Thomas J. Wilkinson, Jr., Kristin Bramer, Kurt "Tammy" Bramer, Kara "William" Murphy and Karl "Michelle" Bramer, eight great grandchildren and cousins. He was also predeceased by his son Gary Bramer in December of 2009 and by his brother Harry Bramer.
Funeral services will be held 11:00am Wednesday, at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, with The Rev. Dr. R. W. Williams officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends from 10 until 11:00am at the funeral home on Wednesday prior to the service.
