Obituary of Francis L. Pierce
Francis L. "Fuzzy" Pierce, 45, of State Highway 30, Town of Perth, NY, passed away Monday, May 2, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam, with his loving family at his side.
He was born November 8, 1965 in Amsterdam, NY and was the son of the late Kenneth and Edna Walsh Pierce. Fran attended schools in Amsterdam and was employed for 23 years for Fiberglas Industries-Fibers, at the Edson Street plant.
Fran helped his friends establish The Checkered Cab Company in Amsterdam. He was a member for 11 years of the Perth Volunteer Fire Company. He loved fishing, hunting and enjoyed watching NASCAR, and his favorite driver, Jeff Gordon. He loved spending time with his granddaughters and he liked to party with family and friends. Fran was also known by family and friends as Franny Banany, Fuzzy, Buttons and Fuzz Ball. He will be dearly missed by his family, by his volunteer firefighter brothers and sisters, his friends and all he had touched throughout his life.
On September 30, 1995, he married the former Mary McCumber Buczacki. Besides his loving wife, he is survived by his dear daughter Theresa McCumber and her finace Zachary Sultan of Perth; a brother Thomas Pierce, Sr. of Perth; two sisters Ella Mae Bassett and her husband Robert of Fort Johnson and Barbara Deronda of Schenectady; two granddaughters Carolyn and Leanna. Several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Fran was predeceased by a sister Donna Pierce and a brother Kenneth Pierce, Jr.
A memorial service will be held Friday May 6, 2011 at 12 noon at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY, with the Chaplin Edwin Leonard of the Perth Volunteer Fire Department officiating. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 10 to 12 noon at the funeral home. There will follow a funeral procession to the Perth Volunteer Firehouse for final call. Friends and family will gather after for a time of cherished memories at the firehouse. Memorial contributions may be made in Fran's memory to the Perth Volunteer Fire Company, 4080 State Highway 30, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
