Obituary of Doris I. Blowers

Mrs. Doris I. Blowers, 82 of Gloversville, passed away Wednesday May 4, 2011, at Mountain Valley Hospice in Gloversville. Born August 21, 1928 in Gloversville, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Margaret Bruce Ellithrop. Doris was educated in Gloversville schools and a 1946 graduate of Gloversville High School. A former member of the North Main Street United Methodist Church, Doris also had been a member of the Women of the Moose, Mayflower Court of the Forresters Lodge and AARP. She and her late husband Robert purchased and operated the former family flower business, Roy's Greenhouse in 1958. They successfully operated the business until 1980. Doris had also worked as a secretary at the Sir William Johnson Boy Scout office in Gloversville from 1986 until 1990. On October 3, 1948, Doris was married to Robert D. Blowers. He predeceased her in 1996. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Ann Hayes of Gloversville and her companion Alan Gessinger. Doris is also survived by two sisters: Beverly Scribner of Gloversville and Helen Borgolini of Watertown, N.Y., as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11 am Friday, May 6 at Kobuskie-Konik Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St. Gloversville, with Reverend Dr. R.W. Williams officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 5 from 4-7 pm. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. Expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to Mt.
