Obituary of William F. Whitaker

William F. Whitaker, Jr., 56, of Gloversville, passed away peacefully Friday, May 6, 2011. He was born October 8, 1954 in Kingston, N.Y., the son of William F. and Alice J. Tubby Whitaker. Bill was employed at Never Alone in West Hurley, NY as a maintenance man and was also a self employed contractor. A social butterfly, he made friends easily and had a wonderful sense of humor. Bill was a great storyteller and was blessed with a gift of gab. He was a very talented woodworker, and enjoyed camping. Bill also had a passion for music. He liked all different kinds of music and counted Led Zeppelin and Bob Marley among his favorites. He also liked to play the harmonica. Most of all, Bill enjoyed being with his friends and family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. "Wallooooooo!" Survivors include his parents: William Whitaker, Sr. and Sylvia Whitaker; two daughters: Sarah Whitaker and Julie Whitaker Jeremiah Mergendahl, both of Kingston; eight grandchildren: Kalina, Kiera, Damareus, Demareon, Devaeh, Emily, Alexis and Jeremiah; wife, Donna Whitaker of Kingston; one brother, James Whitaker of Johnstown; six sisters: A. Jean Murray Paul of Ulster Park, Peggy Dennis George of Kingston, Joann West of Kingston, Lisa Coddington of Kingston, Esther McCaughlin David of Cohoes and Della Peters John of Kingston and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Family and friends are invited and may call Tuesday, May 10 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. atWalrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville, NY 12078. A Time of Rememberance will be held from 11:30 to 12 p.m. Donations may be made in Bill's memory to a charity of one's choosing.
