Obituary of Emil Quattrocchi
Emil Quattrocchi, 98, of Arnold Avenue, Amsterdam, passed away peacefully Sunday morning at the Belmont Manor in Belmont, Mass. His passing came just three weeks from that of his beloved wife of nearly seventy four years, Eleanor Furiani Quattrocchi.
Born in Amsterdam on April 19, 1913 the son of the late Archimede and Maria Marinelli Quattrocchi, he was a graduate of Amsterdam High School. Emil worked at the General Electric Company, and later co-owned with his brother Herman , Herk's Tavern on Bridge Street , retiring in 1984. He was an active parishioner of Our Lady Of Mount Carmel R.C. Church where he was a member of the St. Anthony-Holy Name Society and assisted for a number of years with their annual spaghetti dinner. Emil was an honorary life member of Council 209 Knights Of Columbus and the former Veddersburg Investment Club.
He remained keen and active even in his later years at the assisted living home and more recently the Belmont Manor, and was beloved by both the staff and residents. A mass was offered there in his honor this past Sunday.
Emil was married to Eleanor on June 20, 1937. She passed away April 17, 2011. His son, Donald Quattrocchi predeceased him in 2003. Also, sisters Ida Rosatell, Inez Moore and Jane Dantini as well as brothers Herman and Alexander Quattrocchi have passed away.
He leaves his daughter Joan and her husband John Caruso of Belmont, Mass.; granddaughter Kristin A. Caruso and her husband Swain Valasek ; great grandson Skyler Valasek all of Florida; sisters Vera Baranello and Celia Iannuzzi both of Amsterdam, and Anna Battisti and her husband Paul of St. Johnsville, NY, brother in law Stanley Moore of New Hampshire and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass Of Christian Burial which will be celebrated for both Emil and Eleanor on Saturday May 14th at 11:15 am at Our Lady Of Mount Carmel Church. Fr. Lawrence J. Decker presiding. A calling hour will begin at 10:00 am Saturday at the church prior to the Mass. Emil will be interred next to Eleanor following the Mass at Mount Carmel Cemetery. It is the request of the family that in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Mount Carmel Memorial Fund in care of the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010, who have been entrusted with his care.
