Obituary of Theodore Rich
Mr. Theodore "Ted" Rich, 75, of Bulls Head Road Liberty Residence, passed away peacefully Monday May 9, 2011 at his home.
Born in Troy, N.Y. on November 27, 1935 a son of the late Michael A. and Julia M. Ashley Rich. Mr. Rich was with Liberty Enterprises for many years. He was employed at the former Amsterdam Memorial Hospital and worked in the kitchen for over 21 years retiring in 2000.
He was of the Roman Catholic Faith.
Ted also was an over achiever. He received many awards for his work for the betterment of people with disabilities. He went to Washington D.C. and met with the then President Ronald Reagan and first lady Nancy Reagan on September 11, 1985. He was very big on making sure everything was neat and tidy and was an inspiration to all who knew him.
Mr. Rich is survived by his brother, Michael G. Rich and his wife Nancy of Troy, NY. Niece and Nephew, Michael J. Rich, Nicole Heritage and her husband Brett. Great Nephew, Brady Michael Heritage. He is also survived by his Liberty family housemates and caregivers.
Funeral services will be held on Friday May 13, 2011 at 12:00 Noon at the Betz, Rossi and Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam with the Rev. Robert O. DeMartinis presiding. Private interment will take place at a later date. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday one hour prior to the service beginning at 11:00A.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Amen Place Soup Kitchen or the Montgomery County SPCA both c/o the funeral home office.
