Obituary of Edith M. Blowers

Edith M. Blowers, 86, of Gloversville, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 12, 2011. She was born March 12, 1925 in Plattsburgh, the daughter of the late Siegfried and Mabel Benway Podschelne. In January, 1946 Edith was united in marriage to Nelson Blowers. They shared over thirty eight years together until his passing on March 28, 1984. A very generous woman, she always put others ahead of herself. Edith enjoyed camping, playing cards, reading romance novels and watching soap operas and The Price Is Right. She also had a sweet tooth and enjoyed anything sweet. Most of all, she enjoyed being with her family. Edith will be very sadly missed. Survivors include six sons: Dave Blowers of Gloversville, Allen Blowers of Gloversville, Jim Blowers of Canajoharie, Paul Blowers of Bleecker, Rodney Blowers of Gloversville and Jerry Blowers of Gloversville; two daughters: Dawn Lane and Darla Yennard, both of Gloversville; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; a brother, Clifford Podschelne and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her beloved husband, Nelson, Edith was predeceased by a grandson, David Blowers, two sons-in-law: John Lane and Vernon Yennard; three brothers: George Podschelne, Larry Podschelne and Gene Podschelne and five sisters: Millie Leo, Dorothy Feldman, Pearl Wilcox, Eleanor Van Nort and Betty Buchanan. Family and friends are invited and may call Saturday, May 14 from 12 to 2 p.m. at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville, NY 12078. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. with Pastor Chris Hamm officiating. Interment will be at King Northampton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Edith's memory to the Alzheimer's Association of New York, Pine West Plaza, Bldg 4, Suite 405, Albany, NY 12205-5515.
