Obituary of Nancy A. Donovan

Nancy Ann Donovan was born April 19, 1920 and left her body May 28, 2011 to join family and long term friends in a better place. She was surrounded by her family. Born in Little Falls, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Joseph P. and Inez Wiltner O'Hara . Nancy graduated Little Falls High School in 1940 and had worked early in her life as a supervisor at Cherry Burrell Co. in Little Falls during W W II. She met the love of her life, Joseph P. Donovan and was married November 17, 1943. She gave birth to three girls: Victoria O. Orr of Piseco, Susan A. Knapp Fred of Gloversville and Christine Putnam Marcus also of Gloversville. The entire family enjoyed summer vacations at their second home in Higgins Bay, where many of their life long friends were from. After raising their own children, they enjoyed countless hours with all their grandchildren: Beth Orr, Andy Knapp Romar Nune, Patrick Knapp Christy, Joseph Putnam Sarah Schneider, Bryan Knapp Robin Dutcher, and Mollee Putnam. Also many nieces, nephews and cousins. Nancy was pre-deceased by her husband "Dad" Joe and a sister Phyllis Dorr. Nancy loved her seasons, especially summer. You were most likely to find her out golfing, gardening, bowling or most frequently sunning herself on the hen house. She was a former member of the Nathan Littauer Hospital Auxillary, Pine Brook, Lake Pleasant and Nick Stoner Golf courses. Please consider expressions of sympathy in her memory to Mt. Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Ave, Gloversville, N.Y. 12078, Kelly's Haven for Animals Rescue, 587 St Hwy. 349 Gloversville, or to Piseco Vol Ambulane Route 8 Piseco, N.Y. 12139. A graveside service will be held later in the summer at the convenience of her family. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Walrath & Stewart funeral Home, 51 Fremont St. Gloversville.
