Obituary of Robert L. Barker
Mr. Robert L. Barker, 66, of State Highway 80, Fort Plain died peacefully on Saturday June 4, 2011 at home. Born in Happy Hollow, NY on April 12, 1945 he was the son of the late Harry and Gladys Carpenter Barker.
A lifelong area resident, Bob attended Canajoharie schools and was employed at Beech-Nut for over 20 years. Bob enjoyed being in the outdoors hunting and riding his motorcycle. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
O September 7, 1963 he was united in marriage to the former Barbara J. Brado. That union lasted 45 years until her passing on January 31, 2008. He was also predeceased by three sons, Robert Jr., Jeremy and Daniel; one sister, Shirley Cittadini; and a brother in law, Joseph DiPiazza.
Survivors include his children, Todd Barker and his wife Mary of Johnstown, NY and Kim Bernier and her husband Daniel of Fort Plain, NY; six grandchildren, Kenddra, Tiana, Daniel, Gage, Brandon and Xander. Additional survivors include: two brothers, William Barker and his wife Diane and Ronald Barker and his wife Sue; three sisters, Kathy Winters and her husband Bob, Patricia Weagen and Elsie Mae Di Piazza; a brother in law, Richard Cittadini; friends, Matt Sweet and Albert Doyle; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at 1 o'clock at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY with the Rev. Kenneth Dingman presiding. Procession and motorcycle motorcade tribute will follow to Rural Park Cemetery in Ingham's Mills, NY where he will be laid to rest.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call Wednesday, June 8, 2011 from 4 until 7p.m. at the funeral home. Contributions in Bob's memory may be made to the charity of one's choice.
