Obituary of Inez Mae Smith

Inez Mae Smith, 90, passed away Saturday, June 04, 2011 at the Fulton County RHCF with her loving family at her side. She was born January 28, 1921 in Toronto, Canada, the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Jones. On June 10, 1939 she was united in marriage to Richard Earl Smith. Together they shared over fifty six years together until his passing in 1996. Inez enjoyed sewing and playing Bridge. She was a member of Delta Gamma Delta Sorority, which she joined in 1936. She was a fantastic cook, and her cooking and baking will live on throughout her family. Most of all, Inez loved being with her family, they were always first and foremost in her life. She will be very sadly missed by all who knew her. Survivors include two sons: Douglas Smith and his wife Judith of Caroga Lake and Gregory Smith and his wife Kathy of Gloversville; a daughter, Lorie Rosenberg and her husband Ronald of Raleigh, NC; seven grandchildren: Jeffrey Smith, Christianne Smith, Jodi Sluti, Jamie Woodman, Janelle Collins, Jason Rosenberg and Alyssa Rosenberg; eight great grandchildren: Kayla and Camden Woodman, Kaden, Kaleb, Kenney and Juliana Sluti, Benjamin Smith and Corbin Collins; a nephew, Rick Ottman Linda of MA and many dear friends. In addition to her beloved husband, Richard, Inez was predeceased by a step sister, Ethel Crawford. Family and friends are invited and may call Monday, June 6 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville, NY 12078. A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. with Inez's son Gregory Smith officiating. Interment will take place at FernDale Cemetery in Johnstown. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Inez's memory to the Alzheimer's Association of NY Pine West Plaza, Bldg 4, Suite 405, Albany, NY 12205-5515.
