Obituary of Edna E. Johnson

Ms. Edna E. Johnson, 99, formerly of Guy Park Avenue in Amsterdam passed away peacefully Monday evening, June 6, 2011 at E.L. Wilkinson Nursing Home. She was born February 10, 1912 in Amsterdam, the daughter of the late Frank and Anastatia Kushemkowski Majewski. Edna was a lifelong resident of the area and attended the Town of Florida Country School. She was employed by St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam for over 50 years in housekeeping, she later helped the Nuns at the Hospital. Edna loved to work, garden and especially enjoyed flowers. She was also an animal lover and enjoyed the company of cats. She was a kind hearted woman and generally enjoyed caring and being with people. Edna is survived by her brother Edward Majewski Irene Covey of Delanson and Friends Monica Jim Martin, Carol Martin of Amsterdam and special friend Eleanor Turoski also of Amsterdam. She is also survived by several friends of the church. In addition to her parents she is predeceased by her sister Frances Bernaski and her nephew Robert Bernaski. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Friday, June 10, 2011 at 10 AM at St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam. Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, June 9, 2011 from 4 to 6 at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam NY 12010. Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery following the Mass of Christian Burial. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Edna's memory to the St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home office.
