Obituary of Thomas J. McNally

Mr. Thomas J. McNally, 82, of Syracuse, NY died peacefully on June 6, 2011. He was resident of Rosewood Heights Health Center for the past two years. Born in Amsterdam, NY on June 29, 1928 he was the son of the late Thomas B. McNally and Caroline Henery McNally. Thomas was a 1945 graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School and went on to attend Syracuse University. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1946 until 1948 when he was honorably discharged. After 28 years, he retired from the NYS Thruway Authority as a toll collector. He is survived by his sister, Lois Potter of Oakdale, CT; his nieces, Eileen Varagas and her husband Carlos, Cathy Hernandez, Caroline Pietri and her husband Edgar, Sandra Blankenbaker and her husband Mike, all of Amsterdam, NY, Kelly Potter- McHale of New Jersey and Dawn Kirk of CT; his nephews, John, Peter and Louis McNally of Amsterdam, NY, Stephen McNally of Tallahassee, FL, William McNally and his wife Donna, Adam McNally and his wife Karen, all of Texas, Blake Beardsley of Ohio and Keith Beardsley of North Carolina. He was predeceased by his brother, John J. McNally in 1993. A special thanks to the nurses and staff of Rosewood Heights for their special care they gave Thomas during his stay. A Service of Remembrance and Military Honors will take place on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at 8:30a.m. at the Chapel of St. Mary's Cemetery, Ft. Johnson, NY. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Arrangements have been entrusted to Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam.
