Obituary of Michael M. Check
Mr. Michael M. Check, 64 years old, of Co. Hwy 142, died Friday evening at Ellis Hospital. Mr. Check was born February 19, 1947 in Gloversville, NY, the son of Stephen and Anne Krygowski Check. He was a graduate of Gloversville High School and a lifelong resident of the area. Michael served his country with the US Army during the Viet Nam War. He was employed by the Fulton County Highway Dept. for many years, retiring in 2005. Michael also owned and operated Grass-Hoppers Lawn Care. He worked for area cemeteries and had an impeccable reputation with area Funeral Homes.
Michael was a communicant of Holy Trinity Parish in Johnstown. He was a member of the Brookfield Tractor Pulling Assoc. with many 1st place finishes with tractors of his own fabrication. Michael also had a passion for model railroading.
On May 1, 1971, he married the former Alice M. Blonkowski who survives. Michael is also survived by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jeanette and Richard Jablonski, of Clinton, NJ, his niece Dawn Greg Paige Jablonski of Colonie, his 2 nephews: Kurt Abha Patel Jablonski and their son Tyler of Avon, Ct. and Kord Christine Jablonski of Hanover, Ct., a special friend, his Doberman, Cole and many cousins.
Graveside funeral services will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at Ferndale Cemetery in Johnstown, with Fr. Tom Morrette officiating. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home.
