Obituary of Dolores R. DiGiacomo
Dolores R. DiGiacomo, 75, of Gloversville, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2011 at Mountain Valley Hospice.
She was born December 20, 1935 in Gloversville, the daughter of the late Thomas and Jona DiMarco Guiffre.
Dolores worked as the Activities Director for the Fulton County Residential Health Care Facility for twenty three years. She was also employed as a librarian for the former Mt. Carmel School.
On October 7, 1956, Dolores was united in marriage to Frank DiGiacomo, who survives. They shared over fifty four years together.
She was a very devout Catholic. Dolores made over five thousand rosary beads to be distributed in missions all over the world. She was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit in Gloversville and a former member of the Rosary Society.
Mrs. DiGiacomo was a past member of the New York State Geriatric Association and a founding committee member of the Lexington Center.
Dolores loved to travel, swim and read. She was a terrific cook. Most of all, she loved to be with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed.
In addition to her beloved husband, Frank DiGiacomo, Dolores is survived by two sons: Alex DiGiacomo Lorri of Broadalbin and Frank DiGiacomo, Jr. of Enola, PA; a daughter, Mary Jo Faville Everett of Gloversville; ten grandchildren: Kelli, Jamie, Melissa, Jennifer, Thomas, Michael, Brandi, Ryan, Carly and Lilly; six great grandchildren: Luciano, Francisco, Zachary, Travis, Kate and Layla; a brother, Anthony Guiffre Phyllis of Gloversville; two sisters: Madeline Calella of Amsterdam and Frances Keenan of New City, NY and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dolores was predeceased by two sisters: Anna Guiffre and Jennie Guiffre.
Family and friends are invited and may call Monday, June 20 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville, NY 12078. A prayer service will be held Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Gloversville at 10 a.m. Interment will take place at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Johnstown. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dolores' memory to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078.
