Obituary of Mark W. Irwin

Mr. Mark W. Irwin, 63, of Potter Road, Amsterdam, NY died suddenly on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady. Born in Palo Alto, CA he was the son of the late Norman Porter Irwin and Ethel Smith Irwin. Following graduation from High School, Mark, a Vietnam Veteran, joined the United States Air Force. He served proudly from 1966 until 1972 when he was honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant. Mark owned and operated Mark's Carpentry. He took pride in his work and enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Cynthia Knapik Irwin; two children, his daughter, Michelle Mazur and her husband Robert of Alplaus, NY and his son, Jason Irwin of Rennselaer, NY; two grandchildren, Lauren and Matthew; one sister, Lynda Thompson and her husband Gary of San Jose, CA; his father in law, Frank S. Knapik; a brother in law, F. Tim Knapik MaryEllen Lorini; nieces and nephews, Monica Thompson, Heather Knapik, and Tim Knapik. A graveside service will take place on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at 11 o'clock at St. John's Cemetery in Amsterdam with military honors. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 from 5 until 7p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
