Obituary of Patricia A. Harris

Mrs. Patricia A Harris, 66, of Tryon Street in Amsterdam passed away peacefully at her home on July 7, 2011, with her loving family by her side. She was born in Amsterdam on March 25, 1945 the daughter of the late Bernard and Pearl Amberger Sikorski. Patricia was a life time resident of the area and graduated from St. Mary's Institute. She went on to become a Licensed Practical Nurse and was most currently employed as an Occupational Nurse at Target Distribution in Amsterdam. She was united in marriage to Steven Harris, Sr. on April 11, 1964. They shared a beautiful union of 47 years. While her children were growing up she was actively involved in the PTA, serving as a past president and volunteering in their activities as much as possible. She enjoyed reading and needle point, as well as catching a tan at the beach and going camping. Most of all she enjoyed cooking and baking, she was most happy while in the kitchen preparing a meal for her family. She is of the Catholic Faith and a communicant of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church. Her loving family includes her husband Steven Harris, Sr., son Steven Harris, Jr. of Amsterdam and daughter Maria Harris also of Amsterdam; Her beloved grandchildren Victoria Harris and Brandon Harris and a nephew Mark Michalski all of Amsterdam. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. In addition to her parents, the late Mr. & Mrs. Bernard Sikorski, she is predeceased by her sister Jacqueline Michalski who passed away on March 14, 2006. A funeral service will be Monday, July 11, 2011 at 8:15 AM at Betz Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home. Followed by a mass of Christian Burial 9:15 AM at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, East Main Street in Amsterdam. Fr. Brian List will officiate. Interment will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery in Ft. Johnson. Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 2 until 5 PM on Sunday July 10, 2011 at the Betz Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue in Amsterdam. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the NY Oncology & Hematology in care of the funeral home office.
