Obituary of Thomas E. DiGiacomo
Mr. Thomas E. DiGiacomo, age 62, died unexpectedly on Monday, July 11, 2011 while visiting family in Gloversville, NY.
He was born September 10, 1948 in Gloversville, NY, the son of the late Thomas and Annamay Kline DiGiacomo. A 1967 graduate of Gloversville High School, he also was a graduate of Fulton Montgomery Community College in Johnstown. He was employed by Twilight Color and Chemical Company in Johnstown. He moved to Derry, NH from Gloversville in 1982 and had resided in North Charleston, SC for the past 8-1/2 years. He was a Technical Service Specialist at Lanxess Corporation of Pittsburgh, PA where he was employed the past 20 years.
Tom was a loving husband and father and a devoted "papa" to his granddaughter "CC". His friends described him as extraordinary. He enjoyed life to the fullest. He had many hobbies and interests including sketching, woodworking, restoring his classic mustang, the New England Patriots, wine and he loved candy. But mostly he enjoyed just spending time with his family. For all who knew him they will remember his constant smile & outgoing personality.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn Simonds DiGiacomo of N. Charleston, SC, whom he married on August 2, 1969. Additional survivors include: two children, Tracy DiGiacomo Don Simpkins of Washington, DC and Jason Thomas DiGiacomo of Ladson, SC; a brother, Louis DiGiacomo of Gloversville, NY; a granddaughter, Kacena DiGiacomo; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 15 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, NY, where a funeral service will take place 11:00 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Cynthia J. VanAllen officiating. Cremation will follow at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Johnstown Firefighter's Benevolent Assoc; 244 N. Perry St; Johnstown, NY 12095.
