Obituary of Virginia Mae Maidment

Virginia Mae Maidment, age 86, of Gloversville passed away on Tuesday July 12, 2011 at the Fulton County Residential Healthcare Facility. She was born on February 3, 1925 the daughter of the late Frank and Dora Locke Tiedeman. On December 12, 1943, Virginia married Douglas Maidment. They have shared 67 years united in marriage. Virginia enjoyed making quilts, square dancing, traveling and camping across the United States with her husband Douglas. She was very skilled at hand crafts as well as a beautiful and accomplished pianist. Virginia was the perfect mother. Virginia is survived by her husband, Douglas Maidment of Gloversville, a son: Ken Maidment of Huntersville, NC, a daughter: Linda Torniainen Matti of Gloversville, four grandsons: Bill Maidment, Erik Torniainen, Paul Torniainen, Matthew Torniainen as well as 7 great grandchildren. Additional survivors include several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by a brother Howard Tiedeman and two sisters: Ruth Bremer and Idella Chatterton. Family and friends are invited and may call from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday July 14, 2011 at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville.
