Obituary of Dennis F. Kopec

Mr. Dennis F. Kopec, 69, of Hermance Rd., Galway, passed away Thursday July 21, 2011 at Saratoga Hospital in Saratoga Springs, NY. Born in Schenectady, NY on August 4, 1941 a son of the late Frank and Emily Ordyk Kopec. He was a 1957 graduate of the former Burnt Hills High School. Mr. Kopec was employed for over 32 year at theGeneral Electric Co.in Schenectady as a Machinist Welder retiring in 1999. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Galway. Dennis was an avid golfer and made a hole in one at the Galway Golf Club with a 5 Iron on July 14, 2002 He married Elaine Rita Torsone Kopec on May 26, 1968. In addition to his loving wife he is survived by his daughter Rebecca Kopec of New York, N.Y. One sister, Janet Light and her husband GOrdon Light of Niskayuna, NY. One aunt, one uncle, several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday July 27, 2011 at 9:00A.M. at the Betz, Rossi and Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00A.M. at St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church, Pawling St., Hagaman, with Father Martin DeRose as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday July 26, 2011 from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to a Charity of One's Choice c/o the funeral home office.
