When my friend passed along Melba's Obituary at first I was sad, and then smiled when I saw the part about the witty one-liners. That, and remembering smelling those fabulous apple pies sitting on the dining table several days a week, brought a smile.
Betsy is right, we have lost another great Fultonville Mom but the memories live on for all of us, no matter where we may be.
My deepest sympathy to my oldest friend Iva and and the whole family.

Mom - as we all said our good-byes to you today my mind was so full of great memories, you were the best Mom and Gramma always making everyone feel special in your own perfect way. The little treasures you would keep and give to each of us when you saw us knowing just the right thing that each grandchild would be happy to have. You had such a gift and I can only hope to be just a fraction of that wonderful person to my kids and grandkids some day. And of course you will always be Dave's "Favorite Mother-In-Law" as he would always say when he greeted you. We love you and will miss you, but know you are watching over us with love and a smile. Missing you already - Jill, Dave, Amanda,Mike,Kevin and Vicky.

Dear Iva and family. I was saddened to hear about mom. As I sit on my front porch.....I still see her walking Montgomery to her home...for so many years. Always a Fultonville fixture..as was your dad. Another awesome MOM gone now.....but forever alive in our hearts and memories. Everyone should be blessed with incredible MOMS as we had...and I am sure ours are indeed watching over all their loved ones .....and making Heaven just a little more special. So many special Fultonville moms now at peace , with joy in their hearts for having lived such incredible lives. Keeping you all in my prayers , especially tomorrow. Betsy Whipple Marshall

Mom,
So many memories of days gone by are fresh in my mind today as I write this. One could not have asked for more in a mom than what we had. Always there, patient and calm and always ready to handle anything that came your way.
I'm so very grateful I was able to spend your last few days with you. I will never forget being able to get a chuckle out of you even while you were not at your best.
I was so proud of you for eating your fruit and drinking your chocolate milkshake!
Rest in peace mom and know that we're taking care of pop for you tho we know you'll be watching over him as well.
Thanks for sharing your gum and btw..your hair looks lovely today!
Love and miss you,
Sue

Dearest Grandma,
The memories I have are unbelieveable. I often think of you when it comes to decisions regarding my own children. You have done such a wonderful job raising yours. Thankfully they have now passed it to the next generation.
I remember sitting on the porch in the summer as you named all your flowers and who gave them to you. You loved to show your most recent pictures and letters. You've showed us all how important family is and I'am so proud to call you Grandma. I miss you terribly and I Love You.

To An Amazing Woman,
Grandma you lived such a simple life fully devoted to Pa and your family. Nothing else mattered except your commitment to the
those most important to you.
Your love of sports and humor are what I will remember most. All those sports photos
on the fridge, your love of the Yankees as you
watched everyday. Pa, the Mets fan, while
you cheered on the Bronx Bombers. Those unexpected one liners that you often said
brought a chuckle to us all.
Your famous pies, the endless letters you received from family that you read over and over as a way to stay close to those who didn't live so close anymore. Being greeted at the door with "Hey, Shell'. Fond, fond memories.
A special place will forever be in our hearts
for the grandma who showed us so much love.
You lived life simply and well. We will carry on
and make you proud.
All our love,
Shelly, Paul, Shey and Ty
