Obituary of Emelia Myers

Mrs. Emelia "Dolly" Myers, 89, of Gloversville died July 27, 2011 at The Kingsway Arms Nursing Center in Schenectady, New York. Dolly was born in Gloversville on September 4, 1921 the daughter of Vincent and Vincie Condo Perrone. She was a life long resident of Gloversville and graduated from Gloversville High School in 1938. She was employed as an executive secretary for the Schlusberg law firm and later for Jones & Naudin Co. She was the Gloversville City Court Clerk and most recently was the County Court Clerk for former County Judge Angelo Lomanto before her retirement. Dolly was a member of the Nathan Littauer Hospital Auxiliary, loved boating on the Sacandaga, winters in Florida, bridge and tending to her well-known flower boxes at her cherished home on Kingsboro Ave. Her last five years were spent at the residences of the Kingsway Senior Living Community in Schenectady where she had wonderful friends among the residents and caring staff. The family wishes to thank all those at Parkland Gardens Apartments, Kingsway Manor Assisted Living and The Kingsway Arms Nursing Center who directly contributed to Dolly's happiness and care. We wish to give a special thanks to Theresa Alcott of Kingsway who watched over Mom in such a loving and caring way. Dolly was married to W. William Myers in 1947, who passed away in 1988. She is survived by her son Stephen Myers and daughter-in-law Cyndy Young Myers of Guilderland, three grandchildren Andrew Jennifer Yacobucci of Lawrenceville, GA, Lisa Lance Carson of Latham and John Myers and his fiancé Beth Stillwell of Ludlow, VT; five great grandchildren; her Aunt Fran Perrone and cousins Ron Marlene Lamphear, Joan Colvin and Betty Sal Lomanto. She was predeceased by her sister Madeline Bennice. Calling hours will be held from 12 noon to 1 p.m. on Sunday immediately followed by a Funeral Service to celebrate Dolly's life at the Walrath and Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, NY. The Reverend Christopher Hamm will be officiating. Interment will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kingsway Senior Living Community, 323 Kings Road, Schenectady, NY 12304 or to the charity of your choice.
