Obituary of Gladys E. Darling

Mrs. Gladys E. Warner Darling, age 91, of Gloversville, died Saturday, August 6, 2011 at Nathan Littauer Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born January 27, 1920 in Broadalbin, the daughter of the late Roy and Pearl Baird Warner. She was a glove seamstress for many years and was employed by Jenner Glove Company and Mario Papa & Sons, both in Gloversville. Gladys was a member of Broadalbin Baptist Church, Gloversville VFW Auxiliary, Women of the Moose and the Court Mayflower of the Foresters Lodge. She is survived by: her son, James Darling of Johnstown; daughter-in-law, Carol Darling of Gloversville; 18 grandchildren, Michelle Darling, Brenda Darling, Vicki Winn, James Darling, Jr; Cheryl Parlin, Jo'Lene Cameron, Crystal Gunderson, Ralph Darling, III, Michael Darling, David Darling, Steven Darling, Aaron Darling, Lisa Carberry, Judi Trochimiak, Colleen Darling, Kathleen Trifaro, Rachel Fonda and Tia Fountain; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Gladys was preceded in death by three sons, Ralph Darling, Roy Darling and Robert Darling; as well as her siblings, Donald Warner, Robert Warner, Dora Warner and Charlotte Eglin. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, August 11 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a funeral service will take place 10:00 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Bonnie Orth officiating. Interment will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Rd; Loudonville, NY 12211.
