Obituary of Theodora H. Meyers
Theodora H. "Teddy" Meyers, RN, 89, formerly of Tribes Hill, passed away peacefully Sunday morning at the Home Of The Good Shepherd in Wilton.
Born in Cohoes, NY on December 15, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Helen Spickler Lucas. Teddy was a graduate of St. Mary's Institute and later St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing both in Amsterdam. She then began her career as a registered nurse at St. Mary's and retired in 1974 as head O.R. nurse. Teddy was active in the community, being a member of the Iroquois Seniors, St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary and the Antler's Country Club. She and her late husband enjoyed golfing there for many years. She was a devout communicant of the Sacred Heart Church in Tribes Hill where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the Rosary Society. Her deep faith sustained her in life and especially during her illness. Teddy enjoyed travelling and spending time at Caroga Lake with her late dear friend Nick Fratangelo.
In addition to her parents, Teddy was predeceased by her husband Richard E. Meyers, Sr. on July 4, 1985.
She leaves her children; Richard E. and his wife Helen Meyers of Merrimack, N.H., and Diane and her husband Daniel Wallace of Ballston Spa; granddaughter Carrie A. Wallace of Charlestown, Mass., sister Wanda late Buddy DiCaprio of Amsterdam; brother Chester Sandra Lucas of Danbury Conn., and nieces and nephews.
Services are Thursday at 10:30 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue followed by the Mass Of Christian Burial at 11 am at Sacred Heart Church, Tribes Hill. Fr. Patrick Gallagher OFM Conv. celebrant. A calling period will take place Thursday at the funeral home from 9 am to 10:30 am. The Iroquois Seniors will meet at 9:30 am at the funeral home, and the Rosary Society at 10:00 am Thursday morning. Burial is in Pine Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Church or Saratoga Hospice, both in care of the funeral home.
